GET OUT THE VOTE CHALLENGE!

All are invited to participate in the Durham Friends Meeting Get Out the Vote Challenge!

Many of you are already phonebanking, writing letters, or encouraging friends and family members to vote. Hooray! We are confident that if we combine our efforts, we can make an even bigger difference. So, let's have some fun together getting out the vote. Here are the details:

What's the challenge?

To achieve a cumulative 200 hours of GOTV activities in the month of October.

These include:

Participating in a You Can Vote training
Sending letters to voters through Vote Forward
Canvassing, text banking, phone banking, voter protection training, etc.

How do I participate?

Just record all the time spent (beginning now) on efforts to get out the vote, by clicking on this link.

Although we are only suggesting non-partisan GOTV efforts, feel free to record all time spent (beginning Oct 1) participating in activities through organizations of your choice. There will be an announcement each Sunday after Meeting for Worship with an update on our progress.

Important Dates to Remember:

Sunday, October 11th, 3:30-5:00PM: Vote Forward Virtual letter-writing party. Join here.
Monday, October 12th, 6-7PM: Get out the Vote virtual training (Register here:
Tuesday, October 13th, 6-7PM: Faith and Community Leader virtual training (Register here:
Thursday, October 15th: Early voting begins!
Friday, October 16th: GOTV bonfire at the Houghtons (we will wear masks and practice social distancing). *****If you plan on coming, please email Christine (christine.a.houghton@gmail.com) so that we can try to plan for no more than 10 folks gathering at once)
Saturday, October 17th: Vote Forward’s “The Big Send” - final day to send letters to voters!
Saturday, October 31st: Last day of early voting 🎃
Tuesday, November 3rd: Election Day; Two opportunities to gather/ground with Friends: a) at the Board of Elections, or b) on Zoom (more details forthcoming)
