Donate

Durham Friends Meeting (DFM) depends on the financial contributions of its members and attenders to maintain our property, run our programs and support local, national, and international organizations, including Quaker organizations and other like-minded organizations.

There are several ways to provide financial support to DFM:

PayPal. You can contribute using your PayPal account or by credit card by clicking the button above.  PayPal charges a 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction fee for the service, so we welcome the addition of 3% to cover these costs.

Cash or check.  Gifts of cash or check can be mailed to: Treasurer, Durham Friends Meeting, 404 Alexander Ave, Durham, NC 27705.

Online banking.  You can set up a one-time or recurring contribution to Durham Friends through your online banking account.  Your bank will mail the check to the Meeting - there is no fee for DFM.

Gift of stock.  You can contribute stock that you own.  This may be particularly attractive for tax reasons if the stock has appreciated since you purchased it.  The meeting receives the full current market value of the stock.  The meeting utilizes the services of the Friends Fiduciary Corporation (FFC) to handle gifts of stock to the Meeting.  To learn more, visit the Friends Fiduciary website or contact their staff member, Jeff Perkins at 215-241-7272. Instruct Friends Fiduciary to sell the stock and send the proceeds to: Treasurer, Durham Friends Meeting, 404 Alexander Ave., Durham, NC. 27705.

Direct donation of all or part of Required Minimum Distribution from a Retirement Plan.  If you are over the age of 70.5, you are required to withdraw a certain portion of your assets each year.  There may be tax advantages to directing some or all of such distribution to the Meeting.  Please note that this requirement was waived for 2020. Consult your fund manager as to how to do this in order to obtain tax advantages.

Use of donations & tax documentation

All donations will be used in a manner consistent with DFM’s current policy on donations.

For those donors for whom we have a name and current address, DFM will send annually a statement for tax purposes.
